Pinterest has released its first beauty trends report, highlighting the makeup, hair, fragrance and skincare trends gaining traction in the app in 2026. The data is based on year-over-year increases in Pinterest search activity.
What’s in the report
11 trends and their key ideas
The report identifies 11 trends spanning colors, finishes, scents and styles. Each comes with an overview and a list of key ideas, offering a clear view of which looks are drawing attention and sparking interest among Pinners.
Where discovery happens first
Pinterest says 85% of weekly users discovered new beauty trends or ideas on Pinterest before seeing them elsewhere. With 640 million monthly active users and growing, and beauty among its top categories, the platform carries real discovery weight. For context on that growth, see Pinterest Hits 640M Users — but Growth Came Only From Lower-Value Markets.
New Beauty Guides and a Sephora partnership
Pinterest also launched Beauty Guides, which show users how to recreate trending looks. And it announced a partnership with Sephora tied to the Makeup Maximalism trend, helping users find products in-store that match their in-app interests — a notable bridge from online inspiration to offline purchase.
What this means for beauty marketers
Use search data to plan seasons
A report built on search growth gives evidence, not guesswork, for product concepts and seasonal campaign themes. Map the trend keywords against your product lines and build content and boards around the best matches first.
Layer platform signals
Pinterest shows inspiration and planning signals, while Reddit reflects discussion and validation. Looking at both helps you judge how mature a trend is. Compare Reddit’s take in Reddit's Beauty Report — 'No-Makeup' Down 81%, 'Emphasize' Up 220%.
