Meta has shipped another round of updates to Edits, its video editing app. With updates landing almost weekly, the app keeps widening from a simple editor into a production workflow tool.
What Shipped
Project folder management
Long-press a project to move it. You can now reorder folder listings and pull in-progress work to the top of your queue. For anyone running several video concepts in parallel, that is a real improvement.
Still images to video (U.S.)
Available to U.S. users. Describe the motion you want to see within an image using conversational prompts, and Meta's AI system animates the photo accordingly. Directly useful when you have to produce video format from still assets.
Text and caption style bookmarks
"Tap the bookmark icon on the text frame to save your favorite text and caption styles without leaving your canvas," Meta said. It reduces the problem of subtitle styling drifting subtly between projects. For brand accounts, that consistency is recognition equity.
Bilingual captions and text tools
Edits also published an overview of its evolving bilingual caption options and other text display tools — meaningful for accounts shipping one video into two language markets at once.
A different way to search audio
Audio clips can now be searched "based on vibes, such as chill or bossy, and interests, such as fashion and travel." Closer to how editing actually works than searching by track or artist you do not know.
Versions and templates
You can create multiple versions of a project, and templates now support overlays and locking specific clips in place. Substantial for series work that reproduces the same structure repeatedly.
What Marketers Should Note
This is workflow, not editing
Folder reordering, style bookmarks, multiple versions, locked-clip templates. This round is not a set of editing features — it is a set of features for people producing many pieces repeatedly. The direction that started when Meta added speed curves, one-tap color, and folders to the Edits beta tab has become clearer.
A free app is absorbing the entire Reels production pipeline. Worth auditing whether it removes cost and file round-trips currently sitting with external editing tools.
Template locking is a precondition for series content
Templates with overlays and clip locking cut editing time sharply when producing episodes in a fixed format. When brands attempt serialized content — as with Cuisinart building a 14-episode sitcom for the feed and making it non-linear on purpose — production load becomes the bottleneck. This addresses it directly.
Image-to-video matters most to asset-poor accounts
Plenty of accounts have product photography and no video. This feature closes that gap. It is currently U.S.-only, so accounts elsewhere are waiting.
Given the near-weekly cadence, a feature missing today has decent odds of arriving within weeks. Rather than rebuilding your workflow now, auditing your tool stack once a quarter is the realistic cadence.
