X’s new AI ad creation option, X Lift, launched at Advertising Week New York. Advertisers enter their business URL and get a range of ad options in just a few clicks, cutting the manual setup steps that often slow down campaign launches.
How X Lift works
After an advertiser enters a URL, X’s AI ad generation system proposes multiple ad options, including images and copy, and the advertiser picks which to run. X Lift can also build the entire campaign, including targeting, so advertisers only need to set a budget.
That does mean trusting X’s automated tools to produce relevant, resonant ads. X says the system was trained on X ads and knows what drives performance on the platform, which could make it useful for quick promotions.
Why X is targeting new advertisers
New advertisers are X Lift’s main audience. The platform’s ad business has struggled since Elon Musk bought the company in 2022, as changes tied to his views pushed many brands away — background covered in X's Ad Revenue Is Down About 70% From 2022 — So Why Is It Still Running?.
There are positive signals, though. In its announcement, X reported that active self-serve advertisers grew 50% in Q3 2026 compared with Q3 2025. X Lift adds automation on top of that push to win smaller, self-serve buyers.
What this means for marketers
A cheaper way to test X
Brands that have never advertised on X can now run a small test with far less setup effort. Still, review generated copy and images for brand tone and factual accuracy before anything goes live.
Keep a baseline for automated targeting
When targeting is automated, it is harder to see who you reached. Pull regular reports and compare against a manually built campaign.
