Under Armour has found a new global brand ambassador in 'Heated Rivalry' star François Arnaud, who headlines a new campaign, "For When It's Hot," teasing the brand's HeatGear franchise.
The logic of the casting
Arnaud's character in the hockey romance series often wears Under Armour gear, and the brand said both the character and Arnaud himself are committed to "training, wellness and performance."
"What drew us to François was more than his obvious talent and looks, it was what he represents. The character he portrays ultimately finds his greatest success when he stops trying to fit someone else's mold and embraces who he truly is. That's a lesson that resonates deeply with us. The best athletes perform with confidence, conviction and authenticity." — Matt Dornic, Chief Communications Officer
Timing is the creative
The first campaign launched to coincide with historically North America's hottest week of the year.
The spot shows Arnaud working out in Under Armour gear in a garage, drawing the eyes of his neighbours, and highlights products across the HeatGear franchise:
- UA Vanish Elite
- UA Icon Fleece
- UA Sola
- UA Reign XT
What marketers should take
Ambassador criteria are shifting from fit to narrative alignment. Dornic's explanation is not about follower count or sport adjacency. It is that the character's narrative arc matches the brand message.
The product was already inside the content. The character wearing Under Armour on screen became the premise for the casting — a partnership that started from observation, not a brief.
Launch timing completes the message. Releasing "For When It's Hot" in the hottest week is relevance bought without media spend, treating the seasonal calendar as a creative asset.
