On July 21, Naver began showing product ads beneath the answers of its AI-powered summary search, AI Briefing. The goal is to turn information search directly into purchase intent — boosting shopping convenience and Naver's own ad revenue at once.
What changed in AI Briefing ads
Previously, searching "how to make a handmade burger" returned only the recipe and ingredients. Now, related products appear beneath the AI Briefing summary. The AI analyzes the briefing keywords and recommends relevant items from Naver Plus Store.
The centerpiece is ADVoost. Beyond the keywords an advertiser specifies, the AI automatically expands where ads are shown. Reach grows — but so does exposure in areas the advertiser does not directly control.
Three things advertisers should prepare for
First, rising CPCs and budget burn. As automatic expansion drives more clicks, daily budgets can deplete faster and cost-per-click may climb, so tight budget caps and performance monitoring are essential.
Second, rethinking long-tail strategy. Long-tail queries recently surged 2.5x, so preparing granular purchase-intent keywords and matching product content increases your chances of appearing in AI recommendations.
Third, product data quality. The cleaner your product names, attributes, and reviews — the signals the AI uses — the more you benefit from automatic expansion.
